Let’s log into the URL for Natas4

Note the message. It tries to check where we came from. This means it is checking where we  have been referred from which is stored in the referrer variable. This can be accessed via the developer’s console via  document.referrer

To tamper with this variable, I’ll be using a Firefox extension named Hackbar.

Click on Load URL to load the current webpage and then select the parameter to be tampered, viz. in this case Referrer.

Now, let’s set the Referrer to http://natas5.natas.labs.overthewire.org/ and click Execute

Done!

Note: There are manual methods to tamper as well. I will cover those in another post.
